Here are just a few of the hundredS of experiments the tobacco industry has funded or directly conducted on animals. These experiment were not to make cigarettes less harmful, just to make cigarettes more addictive or to try and find animals that did not get cancer in order to deceive the public.
MONKEYS KILLED FOR SMOOTH ADDICTION
The tobacco industry euthanized monkeys to test the harmful effects of tobacco. After being forced to smoke cigarettes, all but one of the monkeys died. While this experiment showed clear damage to lungs from smoking, the tobacco industry refused to warn the public.

DOGS TORTURED FOR SMOKING PLEASURE
The tobacco industry strapped dogs to man-made smoking machines and forced them to smoke so much that smoke began pouring out of the dogs. 28 died of lung cancer making cigarettes more addictive. Despite clear evidence that smoking caused lung cancer, the tobacco industry refused to acknowledge a link.

CANCER BUNNIES
Scientists created tumors that would grow on rabbits using mixtures of tar, acetone, and other chemicals that were applied to the rabbits ears. All rabbits that received injections of cigarette chemicals developed tumors. Despite this clear evidence of cancer, no public warnings were made about smoking cigarettes.
